Project Description

Salford Hospital: Balfour Beatty

As a pivotal element of the 'Northern Batch' scheme encompassing Salford Royal and Thameside General hospitals, the Salford Royal Hospital project, undertaken by Balfour Beatty, aimed to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Greater Manchester.

The comprehensive scheme featured the construction of a new 16,000m² diagnostics and treatment center, a 4,000m² elderly mental illness unit, a new access road, and extensive external works. This new healthcare facility was strategically designed to replace an aging Victorian hospital, elevating healthcare provisions for the community.

Throughout the four-year construction period, the Tameside and Salford sites experienced substantial expansion to accommodate diverse contractor buildings. The complexity of the project required strategic phasing, including demolition work packages and enabling works.

Balfour Beatty entrusted our experienced MSS project team to deliver a full logistics service. This encompassed the meticulous coordination of construction activities, ensuring smooth project progression and contributing to the successful realization of the enhanced healthcare facility.
