Project Description

Olympic Games, London, Athlete’s Village: A Legacy Beyond Sport: Balfour Beatty

Balfour Beatty plays a central role in the Olympic Games Athlete's Village, leaving a legacy post-event. The Village, adjacent to the Olympic Park in Stratford, not only housed athletes during the games but transformed into a vibrant residential area with 2,818 new homes, contributing to the legacy of East London.

Operating in a 'live' environment during the Olympics, MSS managed complex logistics, including pedestrian and vehicle traffic, and coordinated deliveries to Europe's largest urban shopping centre, Westfield, Stratford. The project presented enormous logistical challenges, demonstrating MSS's expertise in managing diverse demands.

Beyond the sporting event, the Athlete's Village delivered a legacy of new homes, parks, and open spaces. The successful management of deliveries, logistics, and security during the event and afterward showcases the project's multifaceted success.

MSS's traffic marshal team received nominations for various awards, including SHE, ODA, and site-based recognitions, highlighting their professionalism and commitment to safety.
