Project Description

HS2 Old Oak Common Station: Pioneering UK's Largest Super-Hub

Balfour Beatty, in a joint venture, undertakes the monumental task of constructing HS2 Old Oak Common Station, poised to become the UK's largest and best-connected railway station. This super-hub will boast fourteen platforms, including six high-speed and eight conventional service platforms, housed within an expansive 850m-long station box—a space voluminous enough to accommodate 6,300 Routemaster buses. Anticipated to be one of the country's busiest railway stations, Old Oak Common will play a vital role in connecting high-speed rail services to the Midlands, Scotland, the North, and providing access to central London, Heathrow via the Elizabeth line, Wales, and the southwest.

Munnelly Security Services (MSS) has been appointed to fortify the security framework for the delivery and development of Old Oak Common Railway Station. The robust security management team, comprising a security manager, two supervisors, and 14 officers, ensures a vigilant and secure environment. Regular patrols, with a focus on identified vulnerable areas, are meticulously recorded, and reported through an electronic security register.

Key holding services and the installation and management of biometric access control technology further augment the comprehensive security measures employed. Beyond its transformative impact on rail connectivity, the construction and operation of Old Oak Common Station are expected to catalyse the regeneration of the surrounding area in west London, solidifying its status as a pivotal infrastructure project with far-reaching implications.
