A Gold standard for growth

We’re proud to share that Munnelly Support Services has been awarded Gold Status by The 5% Club, recognising our ongoing investment in “earn and learn” opportunities across the business.

This achievement is represents our belief that the future of construction depends on the people who power it, and that logistics is one of the most impactful entry points for new talent entering the industry.

At Munnelly Support Services, we’ve long understood that construction logistics sits at the heart of every project. It’s where planning meets execution, where collaboration thrives, and where future leaders can begin to see how the entire industry fits together. For many of our apprentices and graduates, logistics is their first step into the sector; providing them with a place to learn, grow, and discover the possibilities a career in construction can offer.

Tackling the skills gap

The UK construction industry faces one of its greatest challenges in decades: a widening skills gap that threatens productivity and innovation. As an industry, we know that the demand for skilled workers continues to rise faster than we can fill the pipeline.

But this challenge also represents the opportunity to reshape how we attract, train, and retain talent. At Munnelly Support Services, we’re tackling this head-on through structured apprenticeships, continuous development programmes, and partnerships that make skills accessible to all.

Our approach focuses on practical experience combined with professional training, whether that be from logistics administrators through to construction managers – giving our people the foundation they need to succeed. Each role we create is a chance to contribute to something meaningful, and help modernise an industry that is evolving faster than ever before; all while building a long term career.

As Matt Duck, our HR Director, explains:

“At its core, this is about our people and making investments in individuals who will shape the future of our industry. We are passionate about creating accessible pathways into construction and to show that there’s a place for everyone who’s willing to learn and contribute. Every apprenticeship, every mentoring conversation, is part of a much bigger vision to make construction a sector where anyone from any background can build a lasting and meaningful career.”

Celebrating progress, while looking ahead

The Gold Award from The 5% Club reinforces that our efforts are making a measurable difference, but it also motivates us to do more. At the recent 2025 Skills Summit, where the announcement was made, José Mattos reflected on what this recognition means for the future:

“Standing alongside so many forward-thinking employers, it’s clear we’re part of a movement that’s changing the narrative. The construction sector is modernising to become smarter, more inclusive, and more collaborative than ever before. Logistics plays a key role in that transformation.”

As technology reshapes how we plan, build, and deliver projects, our focus remains on developing people who can thrive in a changing environment.

We’re particularly excited about expanding our partnerships with education providers, increasing mentoring opportunities, and investing further in digital skills training. The construction sites of the future will be powered not just by hard hats and steel-toe boots, but by data, planning software, sustainability insight, and collaborative thinking; and we want our people to be ready for that.

A bright future ahead

Achieving Gold Status as part of The 5% Club is a proud milestone, but it’s also a reminder that our journey is ongoing. At Munnelly Support Services we will continue to champion workplace learning, to open doors for new entrants into the industry, and to help close the skills gap; one apprenticeship, one training programme, one success story at a time.

Because when we invest in people, we invest in progress.
